Ron has 40 years experience representing both sides in civil disputes, including trials and appeals in State and Federal Courts, in arbitration, and in all phases of medical staff peer review proceedings. His practice focuses on medical staff matters, helping clients to evaluate complex issues, and resolving disputes early to avoid the expense and risks of litigation where possible.
Ron's practice has involved representation of individuals and companies across a wide range of subjects, including insurance coverage and bad faith matters, buyers and sellers in disputed transactions, aviation clients, maritime casualties, labor organizations, and ERISA plans and beneficiaries in disputed matters.
Ron started his professional life as an engineer (University of Michigan, BSIE, 1970) working in hospitals throughout Northern Michigan before studying law at Gonzaga University School of Law (J.D. 1975, cum laude) where he served on the Law Review. He worked for the Spokane County Public Defender's office where he handled a full time trial caseload as an intern. He moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1975 and immediately enjoyed a busy civil trial practice. In recent years he began to split his professional time between Arizona and Alaska.
Ron and his wife Barb have two productive and accomplished adult children, Dean and Emily, and a new granddaughter, Wilder.
Ron is an instrument rated private pilot who shares ownership with Jim Wilkens of a Cessna 206 which they fly on floats in the summer and wheels in the winter. He is an avid fly fisherman and cyclist. When not practicing law Ron is likely to be outdoors doing something.
Ron's Martindale-Hubbell® rating is AV. He has been named to the list of Alaska Super Lawyers multiple times. He has also received recognition as one of a distinguished group of attorneys who have now been listed in Best Lawyers® for ten years or longer.
